BUT THEY NEED TO BE ABLE TO AFFORD TO MAKE THAT SECOND ITERATION! But Modus games appears to be committed to listening to the fans and giving us what we want, so I have every reason to believe that their second iteration will only further refine the features. I'm sure it's going to be a bit rough around the edges and have it's issues. SO HERE'S THE CATCH: Is this game going to be perfect in it's first iteration? Of course not. Momentum influences impacts, no pre-scripted animated tackles, full physics-based interactions. Physics-based tackles are literally a dream of mine, and it sounds like they're leaning into this 100%, similar to the old Backbreaker game which was one of my favorite football games of all time. And I had a chat with a developer on discord who confirmed that and Online Connected Franchise equivalent is 100% in their long-term plans and, while not a guarantee, they are working hard to put it into MF23 as one of their stretch goals for the first iteration. A college dynasty mode with recruiting battles, scholarships, coaching trees. I remember sitting down and creating a very accurate old-school Vikings logo (the one with the actual Viking head/helmet/hair) using like 80 layers of basic shapes.ĭeep Franchise mode appears to be on the table which includes both pro football AND college football. If you spent enough time layering shapes you could make literally anything you wanted, no exaggeration. If anyone ever played the old Backbreaker football game, the logo editor seems a lot like that and that one was insane. It's even more extensive than the old Madden create-a-team modes. it's exactly what I've wanted from a Create-A-Team mode for years. Choose your own team name, create your own logo with a layer-based editor, choose your own colors, create and update your stadium, customize gear for each individual player. Modus Games bought the rights to the Maximum Football name and is building a brand-new game from the ground up in the Unreal engine.Ĭustomization appears to be off the charts. Maybe not an opportunity to impact Madden sales that much, but to support a developer that's attempting to shine brightly in 3 huge areas that Madden has long abandoned: Customization, Deep Franchise, and Physics I'm posting this because it appears to me that Maximum Football 23 is the best alternative to Madden that has been presented in a decade plus and I firmly believe it is a HUGE opportunity for the Madden community. It is also being rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal, with no assets or animations being reused from previous games. The rights to the name Maximum Football was bought by Modus Games, who is a significantly larger studio than the two people who previously made the old Maximum Football. IMPORTANT EDIT: If you've heard of Maximum Football in the past, you need to know that this upcoming game is related to the old Maximum Football in name only. If you haven't watched it, please watch the dev update video they posted last week I literally learned about it last week when the dev update was posted here and have since just learned about it thru the discord. First off, I do not work for Modus games and am not connected to them or Maximum Football 23 in any way.
